Abstract. There are the calculated main geometric parameters of a canonical cylindric spool and the throttling directional-control hydraulic-valve's sleeve were presented in this article. The math model was constructed for a steady three-dimensional turbulent flow of a viscous incompressible fluid (including the Reynolds-averaged equations of a continuity and the Navier- Stokes, Realizable k-e the turbulence model, etc). There was revealed the appropriateness of those math-model's application to qualitative estimate the influence of the specific spool-profiling on the pressure-loss in a hydraulic directional-control valve and on the axial hydrodynamic force which impacts on a spool. The fluid flow was explored in a hydraulic directional-control valve with the spool whose the betwixt-land space is represented as two replacing one another in a wide crosssection a counter truncated cones (with a variation by the angle of taper and by the ratio of those wide cross-section's diameter to a spool-land size). The modification (with the 40 degree, the 0.93
ratio, respectively) was provisionally recommended that supplies the 75 percent reduction of an axial hydrodynamic force as against the original configuration without significant additional pressure-loss on the hydraulic directional-control valve.
